The Beginning

A Family Run by Bees

LKC Honey started as a pet project in 2017 to help pollinate our fruit tree obsession. After working with and learning about the intricate lives of these fascinating creatures we were hooked. One hive quickly became five and most weekends involved a trip to "check on the girls".
Since then we have expanded our apiary - a place where bees are kept - added a second apiary in Melbourne Beach, and our three children suit up to help us work with the bees. Our fruit trees are maturing and we anxiously await what each season will bring. Best of all, we are able to bring our bee's honey to your home.

Growing for the Future

Did you know that 1 out of every 3 bites of food you eat is there because of pollinators?

When we made the decision to expand from hobby beekeepers to full on honey production there were a few things that we knew for certain.

We treat all of our bees like queens. No pesticides are used on our property and our bees are handled with the utmost care and respect.

We strive to produce a quality product over quantity. We never bulk order from a honey distributer and repackage under our label. Our honey is always 100% raw from our hives.

Did you know a bee has to collect nectar from about 2 million flowers to make 1lb of honey? To help these little creatures we are continuously adding nectar sources to our property. From fruit trees to seed balls made by Daisy Troops, we want to see the land dancing with flowers.

In addition to our home apiary we are expanding our reach. Depending on the season our bees may be in mango groves in Merritt Island, south Melbourne Beach among the native mangroves or deep in pine-woodlands feasting on saw palmettos. A small collection of LKC colonies have become permanent residents of 32951 at the Melbourne Beach Old Town Hall Museume.

Having our children interested and active in the work in the apiary is beyond exciting. Watching them learn and respect these amazing creatures in this environment is priceless. We love seeing them suit up and to get in the hives and listen to them talk to the bees!
